« The image of the human body means the picture of our own body which we form in our mind, that is to say the way in which the body appears to ourselves ». (Paul Schilder, 1968).
Training Content
This training day presents a modern approach to body image as a dynamic and fluid process.
Enhancing internal perception of the body, shaped by the sensation of movement, we build a positive experience.
Through movement and the bodily emotions it arouses, that a connection between body, emotion and speech becomes possible.
These three abilities, unique to humans, allow an opening of awareness and healing.
Body Cartography®
Body Cartography® is a body-emotion-mind paradigm developed by Haguit Ehrenfreund, PhD, Doctor in Psychopathology and Dance Movement therapist.
This working model is a concept for the study and understanding of the links between bodily expression and past emotional and psychological experiences.
The paradigm provides a methodology for examining the flow of movement related to emotional expression and mental processes.
The aim is for individuals to be aware of their relationship with their own body and how this connection has been built through past experiences.
This model is inspired by the practice of dance, the clinical practice of dance movement therapy, as well as French psychosomatic and psychoanalytic schools of thought.
Program of the day
“My body” perception needs a connection to a representation and a feeling in order to become an identity.
By working on the body cartography, we deepen body schemas (gestural vocabulary), and restore the body image, where it may have been affected.
When body parts are filled with emotion and positive attention it changes the way we look at ourselves.
This process deepens the emotional speech as well as bodily expression and sensation..
Training Objectives
- Introduce the notion of repertoire / gestural language
- Re- connect pleasure to movement
- TroFind inner space for the experience
- Reconsider one’s body image as a dynamic process
